MAKING THE CHANGE – BIODEGRADABLE TEABAGS & RECYCLABLE PACKAGING

At Tea India, we love the planet as much as we love a cup of authentically Indian tea. With this in mind we have been working hard to launch our teas in environmentally friendly packaging.

We are excited to announce that we have moved to a teabag paper called Puri Seal Green for our Masala Chai.  Puri Seal Green uses a plant-based material called PLA,  PLA is made from wood pulp and vegetable starch, it is non-GMO and sustainably sourced, PLA teabags are industrially compositable which means that they can go in your food waste or garden waste bins for the council to compost.

This will be clearly marked on our recyclable packs and can be found in stocking supermarkets: Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Co op. In addition to the biodegradable teabags, the pouch used to hold the teabags is made from Naturflex, which is certified as compostable in both industrial and home composting environments.

We will move all Tea India Chais and Ayurvedic teas to PLA and naturflex from September.
