Rose & Saffron Masala Chai
With this lovely tea we’re using just a touch of milk and the taste of rose petals to make a beautiful refreshing chai tea to drink at any time of day.
The thing we love about this drink is it’s fresh and soothing with a hint of fragrance that makes you feel as if your sitting in an Indian garden drinking a cup of chai. Just what we need right now!
Ingredients for 2 mugs
2 Tea India chai masala tea bags
2 tbsp dried food-grade rose petals (I use Polly’s Petals rose petals as they have a wide selection of edible rose petals)
1/4 tsp nutmeg grated
6 cloves
pinch of black Pepper
2 cups water
1/2 a cup of milk – (dairy or plant-based)
honey to taste
dried food-grade rose petals and saffron strands for decorating
Instructions
Add the water and milk into a heavy bottom pan and bring to a boil.
Turn to a simmer then add your chai masala teabags, rose petals, nutmeg and simmer for 5 minutes to allow the flavour to infuse the liquid.
Strain the tea and add honey to taste, then pour into chai glasses.
Serve topped with rose petals, a sprinkle of crushed saffron, a cinnamon stick and enjoy.
